Up next for Manchester City is a Premier League fixture against Leicester City. Pep Guardiola’s side will travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team who do look to be built to get at City’s weaknesses. Today’s match looms as another tough fixture for Pep Guardiola’s side who enter today’s match off the back of one win in their past thirteen games.
Pep Guardiola’s side will enter today’s match with a host of injury concerns. Rodri, Oscar Bobb, John Stones and Ruben Dias will all miss today’s match due to injury.
Kyle Walker, Matheus Nunes, Ederson and Jack Grealish all missed City’s 1-all draw with Everton due to injury issues. It remains to be seen if any of those four players are available for today’s match.
Manuel Akanji has been pictured training ahead of today’s match. That would appear to indicate that he will be available for today’s match. The other player who could be in doubt for today’s match is Nathan Ake. The Dutch international was substituted late during Manchester City’s draw with Everton. But that appeared to be more of a precautionary measure rather than a fresh injury concern.
Stefan Ortega- Ortega has done nothing wrong in goal and should start again today.
Rico Lewis- With Kyle Walker in doubt I expect Lewis to start today.
Manuel Akanji- The Swiss international has trained ahead of today’s match which would indicate that he should be available to start today.
Nathan Ake- Provided that he is fully fit I expect Ake to start again after his good display against Everton.
Josko Gvardiol- Gvardiol is City’s number one option at left-back and there doesn’t appear to be any reason for him not to start today.
Mateo Kovacic- The Croatian midfielder has been a key player for Pep Guardiola’s squad. He should resume his midfield role today.
Ilkay Gundogan- I expect Bernardo Silva to finally get a rest today. That should see Gundogan return to the starting lineup against Leicester.
Phil Foden- I’m hoping to see Foden play as a number 10 today. He showed glimpses against Everton and could be crucial to today’s result.
Savinho- The Brazilian international was superb against Everton. If he can play like he did against the Toffees he could have a big impact on today’s result.
Jeremy Doku- With Grealish in doubt I expect Doku to start on the left wing.
Erling Haaland- I’m expecting a response from Erling Haaland today. His penalty miss against Everton cost his team and he’ll want to make amends for that today.
