A trio of exits from Pep Guardiola’s backroom coaching staff will be overseen by Manchester City before the FIFA Club World Cup, it has been revealed.

It is the latest significant change to be made to Manchester City’s first-team set-up following a hugely difficult campaign for the club across all competitions – their first season without a single piece of major silverware since the 2016/17 edition.

With Hugo Viana due to take on the role of sporting director full-time this summer, the Portuguese official is working alongside Txiki Begiristain to plot out a new generation of Pep Guardiola’s squad in an attempt to get it back competing at the highest level.

And while alterations in terms of players will no doubt grab the attention of supporters across the globe throughout the off-season, similarly important changes are now being made in the Manchester City dugout and particularly those working directly with Pep Guardiola.

Following reports of contractual talks taking place between the club and backroom staff members, it has now been revealed that three names in particular are already on their way out of the Etihad Stadium.

That is according to the information of The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell and Pol Ballus, who reveal that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is to reshuffle his coaching staff with all of Juanma Lillo, Carlos Vicens and Inigo Dominguez set to leave their posts.

It is explained that Guardiola is currently driving a push for new voices and ideas in order to ensure that he remains challenged and can continue to innovate following a difficult season at the Etihad Stadium.

Lillo and technical coach Dominguez did not have their contracts renewed following their expiry at the end of the season, while Vicens – who also has responsibility as set-piece coach – has opted to become the new manager of Braga despite an offer to extend his City deal.

For now, there has been no indication as to what sort of names Manchester City could pursue to bring into their first-team coaching set-up to work alongside Pep Guardiola, although links to one former player have been twice denied.

Fernandinho is believed to be holding an interest in entering into the coaching world, and it has been previously reported that an offer has been made to the Brazilian to return to the Etihad Stadium in such a role.

However, Manchester City have denied any possibility of the 40-year-old making a return to the club in such a capacity, with the latest of those rejections to sections of the media coming as recently as last week.
