The chief executive at Manchester City has reportedly travelled to close an agreement with Erling Haaland over the player’s Etihad Stadium future.

The reigning Premier League champions are understood to be keen on rewarding Haaland for his exemplary opening two full seasons with the club with an improved contractual agreement, including an increased salary package.

That intention from Manchester City also coincides with continuous reports from throughout European media linking the 24-year-old with transfer interest from both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona in Spain, as well as Bayern Munich back in the Bundesliga.

Those reports largely stem from the feeling within the Haaland camp that the Norwegian superstar would like to compete at all levels of the European game to showcase his outstanding goalscoring capabilities at a number of clubs.

For now, neither the striker nor Manchester City have any intention of striking an agreement that would see Erling Haaland leave the club in a blockbuster transfer, and as such they are working intensely to renew their agreement.

According to the information of Spanish newspaper Sport, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano recently travelled to Norway to ‘close’ a contract renewal agreement with Erling Haaland.

The report further claims the desire of the reigning Premier League champions is to extend Erling Haaland’s Etihad Stadium deal for two more years, and remove the release clause in the process – with previous reports suggesting the value was in excess of €150 million.

Haaland most recently commented on the possibility of a contract renewal with Manchester City back in June, as he explained, “I’ve had two fantastic years (at Manchester City), and have three years (of contract) left. That’s really all I can say. That’s all I can say, what I just said.”

The striker’s lead representative Rafaela Pimenta last commented on the subject of the player’s contract and future within the game around the same time, to which she explained, “One thing is certain today: Erling feels at home at Manchester City!”

Pimenta continued, “He is 1,000 per cent committed to the Manchester City project and is already looking forward to the new season with the club.”

Erling Haaland has began the ongoing 2024/25 season in a similar run of form to those that have been seen in his previous seasons with the club, leading their in-house goalscoring and goal contribution tallies with 15 strikes to his name so far.
