The 2025/26 season will formally be unveiled to Manchester City supporters by the club in the form of an open training session, it has been announced.

After a mixed 2024/25 campaign that saw Pep Guardiola’s side end the season trophyless, anticipation is steadily growing for what comes next, particularly after a whole host of senior first-team signings arrived earlier this summer.

With fresh recruits now firmly embedded after the FIFA Club World Cup, new youth talent stepping up, and tactical evolutions underway, the club is eager to reconnect with its fanbase and build excitement around what could lie ahead.

In the next few weeks, the men’s squad will return to training at the City Football Academy, with new arrivals such as Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri settling in and familiar faces like Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush back in full preparation.

Elsewhere, Manchester City Women are also preparing for a new era under newly-appointed head coach Andrée Jeglertz, who replaces Gareth Taylor following his departure after an underwhelming season.

With the new Premier League season rapidly approaching and pre-season friendlies on the horizon — including an away clash against Palermo in Sicily — City are using this moment to not only showcase their teams, but to welcome supporters back into the matchday rhythm with a day of entertainment and interaction.

As revealed by Manchester City this week, supporters of the club are invited to watch both the Men’s and Women’s First Teams take part in an open training session at the Joie Stadium on Tuesday, 5 August – with the event called, ‘City Are Back’.

Fans have also been told that they will hear directly from the club’s new signings including Rayan Cherki, while newly appointed Manchester City Women’s Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz will address the crowd for the very first time.

As for Men’s First Team head coach Pep Guardiola, the Catalan tactician is also expected to say a few words ahead of the new season, with the entire event hosted by Manchester City’s usual Match Day Live presenters.

Younger fans will be able to enjoy activities in a fan zone, including football skill challenges, photo opportunities with the mascots, and face painting, while live entertainment and music from the club’s resident DJ’s will be available alongside Live music from the Paul Hand Band.

City Are Back will start at 12:30 (UK) and finish at 17:00 (UK), and for those who cannot attend, the event will also be live-streamed across our channels, with full ticket details available here.

Questions remain over the futures of several senior players, including Ederson and Jack Grealish, and while Manchester City are expected to remain quiet on transfer matters during the event, fan interest will undoubtedly be focused on any public signs or comments.

For the club’s Women’s team, the gathering represents a chance to usher in a new chapter. Following a competitive Women’s Super League campaign last term, the introduction of Jeglertz marks a shift in leadership and ambition — and this event could be the first opportunity to observe the group’s refreshed identity and team dynamic.

With just days remaining before pre-season friendlies commence and a fresh Premier League title challenge begins, ‘City Are Back’ promises to be both a celebration and a statement of intent — as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City look to reassert themselves at the summit of English and European football.
