Talks over a renewed deal for one of Manchester City’s first-team stars have seemingly reached their conclusion, reports have revealed in the last 24 hours.

That agreement concerns Nathan Ake – who has seen a remarkable resurgence in Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad over the last 12 months, establishing himself as a mainstay in the left-back position and offering his talents in the centre of a sturdy back-line.

Elsewhere and Manchester City’s commendable sales of Academy graduates look set to continue, with reports on Friday highlighting the possibility of another favourable buy-back clause in favour of the Etihad Stadium club, this time concerning the future of Carlos Borges.

As always, here is everything you need to know to keep right up to date with everything in the world of Manchester City transfer news and rumours.

Arrivals

Manchester City are ‘totally convinced’ to finalise and seal the Josko Gvardiol transfer. However, one thing is certain: If City had ‘wanted him 100% from the start’, he would already be at the club, with RB Leipzig’s demands made clear. (Philipp Hinze)

Crystal Palace are confident of fending off interest from Manchester City in Michael Olise. Palace are talking to the player’s representatives about a new agreement which could wipe out a £35 million clause. The winger is content in south London and values regular first-team football highly at this stage of his development. (Pete O’Rourke, Football Insider)

West Ham are closing in on the signing of Carlos Borges. It is thought that Manchester City’s buy back clause in the deal will be around £40 million. (ExWHUEmployee)

James McAtee: “I think that’s the plan (to stay at Manchester City) but I’m not too sure – I’ll have to wait till I get back home. I’ve not really had talks with the manager yet, he’s just said get your head down and work hard this pre-season… It’s my childhood dream to play for City so that’s the goal. I know it won’t be easy – they’ve got some of the best players in the world in our midfield; Bernardo Silva, Kevin de Bruyne…” (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Contract Renewals

Nathan Ake is set to sign a four-year contract extension at Manchester City, keeping him at the club until 2029. Aké will also see his salary rise to more than £160,000 per week, and is due to put pen to paper before City return to Manchester from their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.
