Manchester United have recently learned the fate of Jadon Sancho who is set to make an unpleasant return to Carrington in the summer.
The Red Devils forked out £71 million to sign the winger from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, but it turned out to be one of their worst dealings over the past decade, and for a club that has thrown millions down the drain in recent years, this damning statement says a lot.
The England international failed to justify his hefty transfer fee for two and a half years at Old Trafford, before finding joy once again during a brief loan spell with BVB during the second half of the previous campaign.
Last summer, Chelsea decided to bet on Sancho, and the latter showed flashes of brilliance early in the season, before fading as the weeks progressed.
The Blues signed the 25-year-old on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £25 million, but recent reports claim that the club has decided to relieve themselves of this clause by paying a £5 million penalty.
Hence, Sancho will officially be a Man Utd player by the start of next season, prompting INEOS to find a swift solution.
According to The Mirror, the Red Devils are willing to cut their losses by dropping their asking price below £20 million.

They would practically accept any figure that prevents them from registering a capital loss. With only one year left on his contract, Sancho’s book value should be around £15 million.
The good news for the Premier League giants is that the winger remains popular in Germany, as Bayer Leverkusen could be interested in his services, while a third stint at Dortmund might be an option as well.
Hence, this will be an important track to keep an eye on, as Man Utd must offload the deadwood to make room for new arrivals like Matheus Cunha or Liam Delap.
