Both Manchester United and West Ham United will be looking to climb up the Premier League table when they meet at Old Trafford on Sunday 11th May at 2:15pm. Either of the two teams could still finish 17th in the league standings, and below you can find our match preview and best bets from expert tipster Anthony Eadson.
With only three days to prepare for this game, the visitors may have a slight advantage over Manchester United who were in Europa League action on Thursday. Only Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes (both 6) have been directly involved in more Premier League goals since the beginning of April than West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen (5 – 3 goals, 2 assists), while in 2024-25, only Mohamed Salah (57%) and Alexander Isak (44%) have been involved in a higher proportion of their side’s goals than Bowen for the Hammers (17/40 – 43%).
Manchester United are winless in six league matches, and motivation may be a factor here, with a Europa League final on the horizon.West Ham have won three of their last four Premier League games against Man Utd (L1), as many as in their previous 28 beforehand (D6 L19). They’re looking to complete their first league double over the Red Devils since 2006-07, and I’m continuing my theme of them performing well by backing Tomas Soucek to Score.
The West Ham man has an impressive eight league goals this season, despite the club’s underwhelming campaign. Three of those goals have arrived in his last three starts and he looks to be finishing the season on a high. Soucek has also been carded in eight league matches this season and I think he’s worth a small punt to find the net and find his way into the book at a big price on Sunday.
Man Utd have had a disaster of the season, but there is still a chance theybe playing Champions League football in a few months time if they win the Euorpa League final against Spurs. The Red Devils are 15th having collected just 39 points from 35 matches, an incredible disappointing return. United are winless in their past six league games, losing four and drawing two. At home, the Red Devils are winless in their past three in the league, though two of those were draws against Arsenal and Manchester City.
West Ham cannot finish in the top half, so are purely playing for pride for the rest of the season. And they could do with a boost. The Hammers are now winless in their past eight in the league, losing four and drawing four. Three of those defeats have come away from home too, losing away to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion.
There’s a chance that Amad Diallo could be available in time for this game, though he likely won’t be risked from the start. Diogo Dalot is expected to miss out, while Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez won’t feature again this season. Harry Maguire faces a late fitness test.
Crysencio Summerville could be back in time for this game, but Michail Antonio is out. Edson Alvarez is a doubt after returning from a back injury, while Michail Antonio will not return until next season.
West Ham have won three of their past four games against Man Utd. But the Hammers haven’t won a league match at Old Trafford since May 2007.
