Manchester United are the latest side to have been credited with interest in Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen.

Since his £12.8m move from Juventus in the summer, Huijsen has established himself as one of the most exciting young defenders on the planet, with some of Europe's biggest clubs emerging as suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea were recently said to have placed Huijsen towards the top of the summer wish list, while Real Madrid see the 19-year-old as a potential solution to their struggles at centre-back.

Now, AS state United have joined the race as they look to add another young centre-back to their current group.

United beat Madrid to the signature of Leny Yoro last summer and could look to repeat the feat with Huijsen, who has been identified as a smart fit for Ruben Amorim's three-man defence. Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans could both leave the club this summer, while Lisandro Martinez is expected to miss most of the calendar year with a serious knee injury.

There are other options on United's list, including Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite, Sporting CP's Goncalo Inacio and West Ham United's Jean-Clair Todibo, the latter of whom will complete a permanent move away from INEOS-owned Nice in the summer.

Huijsen's contract with Bournemouth is believed to have a release clause to facilitate a summer departure, which could make him an affordable target for Madrid after being warned they may have to pay £100m to lure William Saliba away from Arsenal.
