Manchester United have been handed a significant boost in their reported pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
After bolstering their attacking-midfield department by signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo, the Red Devils have shifted their attention towards other departments, mainly the striker role, the midfield, and the goalkeeper.
Over the past two years, Man Utd fans have had to deal with Andre Onana and his knack for committing costly blunders. Therefore, the vast majority of the fanbase is hoping for the arrival of a new No.1.
In recent weeks, United’s choices were mainly trimmed to two: Aston Villa’s experienced goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, and Royal Antwerp up-and-coming custodian Senne Lammens.
However, everything changed following Donnarumma’s bombshell, as it has now been revealed that the giant shot-stopper could be on his way out of PSG after failing to agree terms with the European giants for a new contract.

Several sources in England and France, including L’Equipe, have identified Man Utd as one of the Italian’s main suitors, alongside their crosstown rivals, Manchester City.
The Euro 2020 hero’s potential exit this summer has been further confirmed by PSG’s pursuit of LOSC Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who would arrive as a replacement.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the reigning European champions have already agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old French custodian, and they’re now close to finding an accord with their Ligue 1 counterparts over a transfer.
Chevalier is considered one of the most sought-after goalkeepers on the market, and has also been linked with Man Utd at one point. Therefore, one would imagine that the Parisians would have promised him a prominent role to convince him to join, in addition to a lucrative financial package, of course.
In Donnarumma, United would find a ‘truly exceptional’ and world-class goalkeeper who is coming off arguably the best season in his career. However, it remains to be seen if Man Utd can forge the financial means to pull off this immense operation.
One would imagine that Onana would have to make way, so offloading the Cameroonian would likely be the biggest obstacle in Man Utd’s way.
