The mood around Old Trafford will feel significantly different on Sunday afternoon as the beginning of a new era approaches.
Erik ten Hag's dismissal last Monday was hardly surprising and the Red Devils have swiftly appointed his successor. Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim will take charge of his first match after the November international break, with Ruud van Nistelrooy - who oversaw a 5-2 Carabao Cup win midweek - leading the side until then.
Chelsea will face a buoyant Old Trafford crowd this weekend but will take solace in the knowledge that they won't be battling a full-strength United side. Injuries have been a concerning and mightily frustrating theme of the Red Devils' season thus far and Van Nistelrooy will have to handle a busy treatment room for the next few matches.
Here is the latest on United's injury woes ahead of Chelsea's visit.

The majority of United's injuries this season have come across the backline and Van Nistelrooy will be without a handful of defenders for Sunday's clash. Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw have all missed the entirety of the 2024/25 season to date and won't be available this weekend.
Harry Maguire sustained an ankle injury before the the October international break in the goalless draw with Aston Villa and he's been ruled out for Chelsea's arrival. However, United do still have plenty of choice in the centre of defence with Jonny Evans, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof all fit.
There were question marks over Noussair Mazraoui's fitness ahead of the Carabao Cup fourth round victory over Leicester City, but the Moroccan featured from the bench against the Foxes and is available for the upcoming clash with the Blues.

United are currently sweating on the fitness of in-form midfielder Christian Eriksen. The veteran picked up a knock midweek and is now doubtful to feature at the weekend according to Van Nistelrooy.
"We're still hoping and working hard to get Christian Eriksen part of the squad. He's working hard to make it in the last moment," said the Dutchman.
Elsewhere, young Toby Collyer is currently sidelined and Kobbie Mainoo remains out of action having been missing since the trip to Villa Park in early October. Former Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount won't feature against his former employers as he continues to struggle with injuries at Old Trafford.

The forward line remains well stocked for United, who have the bulk of their attacking options available to them. The only absentee on Sunday will be Antony, who sustained an ankle injury during the 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce in the Europa League.
Rasmus Hojlund should return to the starting lineup after another underwhelming contribution from summer recruit Joshua Zirkzee against Leicester. Amad Diallo will be pushing for Marcus Rashford's starting berth as the England international struggles for consistency.
