Manchester United’s search for a new striker could lead them towards Goncalo Ramos, who is seemingly on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain.

The 23-year-old rose to prominence at Benfica when he cemented himself as the main striker in Roger Schmidt’s starting lineup.

The striker also earned the plaudits after pipping Cristiano Ronaldo for a starting spot against Switzerland in the Round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup, and responding with a famous hat-trick.

In 2023, he completed a transfer to PSG for €65 million, but never truly established himself as a regular starter in Luis Enrique’s plans, as the Spanish tactician prefers to deploy a False 9 like Ousmane Dembele or Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Despite his limited playing time, Ramos contributed with 18 goals and six assists, ending the season with a historic treble after clinching the Champions League trophy by thrashing Inter Milan with five unanswered goals.

But after collecting enough silverware in Paris, it’s time for the young striker to find himself a more prominent role, even if it means leaving the most successful club in Europe this season.

According to football journalist Graeme Bailey via United in Focus, Ramos’ agents have been given the green light to find their client a new club as he’s considered surplus to requirements.

The player’s representatives have thus taken the opportunity to offer his services to Man Utd among other clubs, including potential suitors in the Saudi Pro League.

As the source explains, United had already enquired about Ramos during his time at Benfica, but they missed out on the opportunity to sign him at the time. The source estimates his price at circa £50 million.

Man Utd have already secured their first signing of the season in Matheus Cunha, with only the official announcement missing.

Nevertheless, a centre-forward remains a priority for the club, especially amidst Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles.
