Man Utd have just offered three-year contract to Euro 2024 midfielder – report | OneFootball

Manchester United have made a three-year contract offer to midfielder Adrien Rabiot whose deal with Juventus expired on June 30.

The Red Devils are aiming to strengthen their midfield department this summer and they have already expressed an interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Aside from Ugarte, they are exploring other transfer possibilities and Nick Semeraro claims that the club have offered a three-year deal to Rabiot who is a free agent.

A number of other Premier League clubs and Real Madrid are also interested in the Frenchman.

United should avoid pursuing deal for Rabiot

Rabiot was a top target for manager Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2022.

The Dutch tactician personally spoke with the midfielder to convince him over a transfer. A fee was agreed with Juventus, but United refused to meet his £8.5 million annual salary demand

The hierarchy were reluctant to pay him more than £6m per year. Rabiot went on to stay with Juventus where he has been a key player with 25 goal contributions in the last two seasons.

Rabiot is currently a free agent after his Bianconeri deal expired on June 30. United have reportedly offered to sign him for three seasons, but it does not appear the right decision.

The Frenchman, who is currently at Euro 2024, will likely demand a similar salary (£163,000 per week).

On top of this, he may want a significant signing-on fee as he is available on a free transfer.

Rabiot could prove a good signing in the short-term, but the move may not work out over multiple seasons. He could be past his peak soon. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are prime examples.
