Inter Milan are considering a surprise reunion with Andre Onana, just two years after he left for Manchester United in a £47 million deal.
Indeed, journalist Joshua Hall claims new Inter boss Christian Chivu is keen to acquire a new No.1 to kick off his tenure on the right foot, with both Onana and United-linked Senne Lammens (Antwerp) on his shortlist.
Whilst Onana has become a divisive figure at Old Trafford, he did leave the San Siro on positive terms, even if he was only there for one season before jetting off to Manchester.
Across the 2022/2023 term, the Cameroonian played a key role in Inter lifting both the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup, as well as finishing runners-up in the Champions League final, where he oversaw a stellar display before the side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

When United got their 2025/2026 campaign underway over the weekend with a home clash against Arsenal, Onana was nowhere to be seen in the matchday squad — as was the case on the final matchday of 2024/2025.
It was thought that, this time around, his absence was down to the fact that he had barely trained in the build-up to the fixture, having just recovered from a lengthy hamstring injury layoff.
Altay Bayindir stepped in to take his place and proceeded to come under fire for a weak display when defending Arsenal’s opener, prompting the United faithful to express their concerns over their goalkeeping contingent and how the pair will fare in the coming months.
Reports have previously suggested that a new shot-stopper would only be signed if Onana was sold beforehand. After sanctioning deals for an entirely new frontline and a midfielder still being considered, a ‘keeper has not taken priority in INEOS’ plans for the remainder of the window.
However, that could change if Inter’s interest materialises.
