Manchester United have confirmed goalkeeper Mary Earps will leave the club when her contract expires this summer.

90min understands Earps had sought guarantees from United over both the team's transfer plans and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's vision for the women's team when she held talks with the Red Devils earlier this year.

An agreement could not be reached, however, with Earps' departure confirmed in a statement on Saturday.

"Manchester United Women can confirm that goalkeeper Mary Earps will depart the football club, following the conclusion of her contract," the club wrote.

"Everyone at the Manchester United would like to thank Mary for her fine service and wish her the best of luck in the next stage of her career."

Earps is understood to have agreed a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain which will make her the highest-paid goalkeeper in women's football.

United have lost a handful of key players this season. Alongside Earps, the Red Devils have bid farewell to captain Katie Zelem and forward Lucia Garcia, both of whom have also departed on free transfers.

Ratcliffe and other club officials are under increasing pressure to prove their commitment to the women's team after recent comments left many fans and players concerned about their standing under the new ownership.

The INEOS chief has admitted to not having much of a plan for the women's side at this point in his ownership, while United are also set to be contacted by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) after it was revealed that the women's team would be moved into temporary facilities at the training ground to make space for the male players while their area is under refurbishment.
