Manchester United have reportedly ruled out selling Matthijs de Ligt this summer, ending recent speculation about a possible departure, according to Bianconera News citing Manchester Evening News. Despite previous hints that the Dutch centre-back could be on the move, United’s hierarchy has decided to keep faith with the former Juventus defender.

De Ligt, who joined United after a mixed stint at Bayern Munich, enjoyed a positive season under new manager Amorim. Sources indicate that the United coach considers De Ligt a key part of his plans, leading the club to “lock him down” for the upcoming campaign. The 24-year-old’s performances have been described as consistent and influential, helping steady a backline that needed reinforcement after last year’s difficulties.

Juventus, who have been active in the summer transfer market and linked with a host of United players during a period of extensive squad restructuring, had been mentioned as a potential destination in some Italian press reports. However, with United’s stance made clear, a Turin return for De Ligt will not materialize.

Juventus have instead focused their energy on adding attacking firepower, landing Jonathan David and closing in on a deal for Jadon Sancho. Defensive reinforcements have been a lower priority this summer, and no formal advances were made for De Ligt, who still retains strong links to the club where he made his name.

As the transfer window intensifies, the message from Manchester is evident: De Ligt is part of a core group that Amorim sees as crucial for United’s immediate future. Any hopes of Juventus or other European suitors testing United’s resolve appear unlikely to yield results at this stage.
