Man United leading the race for exciting EPL teenager wanted at Liverpool | OneFootball

Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners in the race for England U17 captain Seth Ridgeon.

The 16-year-old was born and raised on the English shores, and also has Sri Lankan heritage, making him eligible to represent the Asian nation. The midfielder has been rising through the ranks at Fulham, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the country.

In recent weeks, the 16-year-old has been linked with Liverpool who are said to be adamant about poaching his services.

Nevertheless, in his latest update on CentreDevils, Man Utd insider Sully insists that the Red Devils are ahead of the arch-rivals in the race for Ridgeon. The journalist thus believes United are leading the race for the Fulham prodigy.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Christopher Vivell and his collaborators have been excellent at scouting young talents in England and abroad and luring them to Carrington.

Man United have already recruited the likes of Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi-Martin, Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik. They have also acquired the services of Southampton teenager Harley Emsden-James.

Moreover, Ruben Amorim showed a willingness to gradually introduce young players into the mix last season, perhaps sparked by the lack of first-team options.

So while Ridgeon is unlikely to gain playing time immediately, considering his tender age, the Portuguese manager might be willing to test him on a few occasions, at least if his performances stand out with the youth ranks.

But while poaching young talents is also exciting for the fanbase, the Man United supporters are still waiting for the arrival of top stars who can immediately raise the quality of the senior squad.

Thus far, Man United have only completed the signing of Matheus Cunha, as they’re yet to unlock the tiresome negotiations with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
