Manchester City could face sanctions, including expulsion and mammoth charges, after being found guilty of breaching more than 100 financial rules.
An independent commission will review the alleged breaches and determine whether the reigning Premier League champions are guilty of an unprecedented level of rule-breaking.
The alleged breach dates back to the 2009/10 season, and confirmations of the charges against the Abu Dhabi-owned club have been delivered after four years of investigation by the league.

The independent commission will review the alleged breaches and will then have the power to impose numerous sanctions, the most severe being expulsion from the league.
The club could also be suspended for a fixed period of time from playing a league match and could suffer having points deducted following the final decision.
Several possible financial penalties could be imposed, with ramifications stretching into the tens of millions.
The independent commission can also recommend to the board that league matches to be replayed and can order compensation if they see fit, including ordering clubs to pay costs.
Regarding players, Manchester City could also see the cancellation or refusal to register players.
The club could also see conditional punishment as the Independent Commission could make such other orders as it thinks fit.
It is unclear whether titles can be stripped from them retrospectively. The Premier League has said it will not comment again until the process is completed, whilst Manchester City released a brief statement saying that they are “surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.”
The Premier League will appoint an independent judicial panel to examine the case and make the final decision. According to the BBC, the panel will be selected and chaired by Murray Rosen KC.
