Theo Hernandez bagged his 29th goal for AC Milan last night, thanks to a great strike, and by doing so he equalled the record of the Rossoneri legend Paolo Maldini. The latter was quick to respond to the Frenchman on social media.
Maldini may have left his role as technical director at Milan, but he’s still keeping a close eye on the team. Yesterday, as the Rossoneri beat Lecce by three goals to nil, Hernandez got on the scoresheet and equalled a record of the club legend.
Indeed, along with Maldini, the Frenchman is the only defender in Serie A history to have found the back of the net 29 times. All scored for Milan, just like Maldini, and Theo mentioned his idol in a social media post last night: “Victory and 29 goals with Milan: happy to equal my idol Paolo Maldini!! FORZA MILAN 🔫😉,” he wrote.
Maldini didn’t take long to respond: “Well done Theo❤️ the small difference is that it took me 25 years, it took you 5 😂😂. You are special!”
It’s no secret that Hernandez and Maldini have had a very good relationship since the start, seeing as the club legend convinced him to join the Rossoneri in the first place. As such, equalling the record must be very special for the 26-year-old.
