A huge transfer was confirmed on Monday as FC Cincinnati signed Portland Timbers star attacker Evander. The Brazilian reportedly signed for a fee of $12m plus add-ons.
During the off-season, Evander hit out against Timbers executives on social media but still delivered a parting message to fans after swapping MLS sides.
"To the fans, this was never about money," he wrote. "I never put that above the respect I have for this club and this city. In fact, I sacrificed a lot just to be able to move forward. But in the end, I wasn't given a choice."
According to FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan, Evander could debut on Wednesday night against Motagua in the Concacaf Champions Cup.

Canadian clubs are also in the headlines as Toronto FC attempts to sign a player from England.
Arsenal under-21 captain Zane Monlouis, who plays as a centreback, is reportedly on the brink of joining TFC, according to journalists Neil Davidson and Tom Bogert.
The 21-year-old played for England at U-15 and U-17 level as well as the Jamaican U-23 side. A product of Arsenal's youth academy, the defender is looking for first-team football after 70 appearances for the Gunners' U-21 side.
He also featured in two Champions League matches this year.

As Evander went one way, the Timbers ensured they replaced his efforts with the signing of David Costa. The former Lens attacker joined for a reported fee of $6 million.
The versatile 24-year-old, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, impressed with the French side in Ligue 1 and throughout Europe.
Costa registered 23 goal contributions in 123 games for Lens, after working his way through their youth setup.
The question is, can anybody fill the hole Evander left?

Another update from Tom Bogert turns our heads to LA Galaxy.
The club are reportedly "exercising a contract buyout" on midfielder Sean Davis. The decision is "strictly" because of cap constraints.
The Galaxy acquired the 32-year-old from Nashville in December but it seems his chapter in LA will end prematurely.
Davis "can sign elsewhere in MLS for cheap budget hit" as a result of the decision.

The Philadelphia Union also spent big bucks with the signing of forward Bruno Damiani. The deal is a record-breaking transfer fee for the club.
The Uruguayan international arrives from Nacional after helping the club earn their first Supercopa title since 2021. He signed with the MLS side until 2028.
“Bruno is the exact type of player that we have been looking to add to our striker unit,” said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director, Ernst Tanner. “He is a tall, physical striker with a proven ability to dominate and be a danger in the final third. Along with his size and strength, he is a clinical finisher and is relentless on the attack. We look forward to getting him integrated quickly and seeing his impact on the pitch.”

Another signing saw the Vancouver Whitecaps secure the signature of Chivas striker Daniel Rios.
The Mexican forward joined the club on loan through the 2025 season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Axel Schuster, Whitecaps sporting director, labelled Rios as an "experienced striker" with a "natural physical presence."
The 29-year-old was previously on loan with Atlanta United, after stints with Charlotte FC and Nashville SC. He has 19 goals and seven assists in 81 regular-season MLS matches.

Nashville also joined in on the transfer action after completing a move for midfielder Ahmed Qasem.
The 21-year-old arrived from IF Elfsborg, a top club in Sweden's premier league, through the 2027 season with the option for an extra year.
The Swedish international registered 11 goals and 13 assists in 87 matches with IF Elfsborg since 2021. The 2024 season saw him enjoy "his best professional season" after impressing in the Allsvenskan and the Europa League.
Qasem notably featured against multiple European Soccer giants, including Tottenham Hotspur, Athletic Club, Roma, Nice, Braga and Galatasaray.
