Enzo Maresca has been working on trying to create a “firm but fair” culture at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground this season according to reports.
The Italian was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor last summer, and signed a five year deal at Stamford Bridge after guiding Leicester to the Championship title.
The 45-year-old made a brilliant start to life in west London, although the current run of two wins in the last ten league games is quickly undoing that good work.
Chelsea have the youngest squad in the Premier League, and a lack of leadership and experience has certainly had a negative impact on the team this season.
Despite all the talent in the squad, there is still a lack of maturity amongst the group, which is to be expected given how young the players are.
Mail Sport have reported that Maresca has been working on creating what’s been described as a “firm but fair” culture at Cobham.

The report gives the example of Noni Madueke being dropped from the match day squad for not meeting the expected standards in training.
It could be argued that experienced players with leadership qualities should be creating the culture at the training ground, and that shouldn’t necessarily have to come from the manager.
Maresca is under pressure to deliver Champions League football, and Paul Merson has claimed he could be sacked if the Blues don’t beat Southampton and Leicester in their next two league matches.

The size of the job at Chelsea is huge, and perhaps bigger than many, including Maresca himself realised, with one of the club’s directors coming out and confirming the Italian would remain manager for the rest of the season.
From the reports in the media it’s appears the club are fully behind Maresca, but this is a results based business and he needs to start picking them up fast.
