There had been some tension after the 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina, when the coach confirmed that Christian Pulisic should’ve been on penalty duties, so both Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham went against team orders to step up.

Theo Hernandez is suspended, while Abraham, Rafael Leao and Fikayo Tomori were dropped to the bench.

It also means Maignan is chosen as captain, the fifth different player to wear the Milan armband so far this season.

Davide Calabria is currently injured and should be the first choice, while Tomori wore it in the 2-2 draw against Lazio in Week 3.

Theo Hernandez was captain against Venezia, Inter, Bayer Leverkusen and Fiorentina.

Rafael Leao had one go with the captaincy during the 3-0 victory over Lecce in Week 6.

Alvaro Morata is the vice-captain this evening, although he only joined Milan this summer.

Maignan had been tipped to become the France captain in the absence of star names, but it went to Aurelien Tchaoumanei instead.
