Liverpool star all but confirms he’s LEAVING

Elliott made a rare appearance in the starting line-up against Brighton on Monday night. For Liverpool this was a disappointing game with the home side clearly wanting to win more.

But Elliott still showcased glimpses of his talent. He scored Liverpool's opening goal and then provided the assist for Dominik Szoboszlai to give the Reds the lead.

Those two goal contributions mean Elliott is now averaging a goal or assist 0.88 per 90 minutes.

That's one of the best ratios in the entire squad and Elliott has definitely been a useful player for Liverpool. He's often made an impact when he has come on as a substitute.

Famously scoring against Paris Saint Germain to win the first leg for the Reds.

But frustratingly, he has been restricted to minutes on the pitch. It feels like Elliott is not necessarily in Slot's plans and speaking after the game, the Liverpool midfielder strongly implied that he's about to leave the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Elliott said:

“It’s been hard with how much I’ve played. I’ve tried as hard as I could and whatever happens, happens."

“It’s about what’s best for my career. It’s about reflecting and seeing what I can do. I’m here at the moment and I’m focusing on the final game," he continued.

That sounds like a player who is resigned to his fate. Which is a real shame because Elliott is a boyhood Liverpool fan. He's lived the dream and he still has an abundance of potential.

Having a player who loves to play for the club and understands what the shirt means is a massive bonus. But you have to understand his decision.

A footballer will want to play and Elliott is at an age where it's necessary for him to be getting regular minutes under his belt. That does not look like it's going to happen at Liverpool.
