Liverpool have been named among the top European clubs monitoring Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber, according to a report from Caught Offside. The 23-year-old Dutch international is said to be attracting growing attention ahead of the summer transfer window, with Manchester United and several other Premier League clubs also watching developments closely.
Timber’s standout performances in the Eredivisie this season – despite being cut short by injury – have not gone unnoticed. He made 26 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring six goals and showing “intelligent play, technical skills, and versatility in midfield,” as per Caught Offside sources.
Liverpool’s interest appears logical on multiple fronts. Arne Slot, who took charge at Anfield in May 2024 and won the Premier League title in his first season, previously coached Timber at Feyenoord. That familiarity could prove decisive, particularly if Liverpool prioritise signings who already understand Slot’s tactical principles.
The Reds are believed to be among a group of clubs keeping tabs on Timber’s recovery following a serious knee injury sustained earlier this year. The midfielder suffered damage to his external lateral ligaments in February 2025, underwent surgery, and has since been sidelined.
“Interested clubs are expected to closely monitor his rehabilitation progress before committing to a formal bid,” Caught Offside noted.

While Timber remains under contract until 2026, Feyenoord are reportedly in discussions to extend that deal. However, there’s a growing sense that if no agreement is reached, the Dutch side may be forced to cash in this summer to avoid losing the player for nothing next year.
“Feyenoord would be willing to listen to offers in the region of €25–30 million should Timber decline to sign a new deal,” the report revealed.
That valuation is unlikely to deter Liverpool, who have shown in recent years a willingness to invest in players with a clear developmental upside. However, the club will be cautious, particularly due to Timber’s current injury status and the Premier League’s physically demanding nature.
Manchester United have also registered interest in Timber, along with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Overseas clubs in Germany, Italy, and Spain are also reportedly following his situation. Should he return to full fitness, competition for his signature is likely to intensify.
Timber isn’t the only name on Liverpool’s radar. Caught Offside mention that “Brazilian midfielder Ederson of Atalanta is also on the radar of the top Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Man United.” This signals a broader recruitment strategy as the Reds prepare for a title defence and Champions League campaign under their new manager.

Timber’s skill set is well-suited to Liverpool’s evolving midfield structure. He can play in multiple roles, carries the ball effectively, and has a knack for progressing play. But after seeing so many promising signings derailed by injury in recent seasons, Liverpool fans will hope for a more risk-averse approach this summer.
While his familiarity with Slot adds weight to his candidacy, it will ultimately come down to the medical team’s assessment. A €30 million outlay for a player still in recovery demands total confidence in his physical readiness.
From a supporter’s perspective, this feels like an interesting but potentially flawed pursuit. There’s no doubt that Quinten Timber is a talented midfielder – technical, versatile, and intelligent. But for Liverpool, who must now operate with precision in the transfer market, this seems like a gamble that might not be worth the risk.
€30 million for a player recovering from lateral ligament surgery? That’s steep. And while the Slot connection could work in Timber’s favour, fans aren’t convinced that familiarity should outweigh form and fitness. Especially when other targets like Ederson, with a clean injury record and a combative style, are also on the list.
Let’s not forget: Liverpool’s midfield options aren’t short. The likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endō, and Curtis Jones have all proven themselves in the Premier League. Timber might have higher potential, but with no guarantees on his return to full fitness, is this really the summer to roll the dice?
Yes, Slot deserves players who fit his system – but that should come with assurances. This signing would only make sense if Timber is fully fit, significantly undervalued, and bought with realistic expectations. Otherwise, Liverpool could find themselves solving problems they didn’t need to create.
