Liverpool legend open to succeeding Ancelotti as Real Madrid manager – report | OneFootball

With Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid growing increasingly uncertain following last night’s UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal, Xabi Alonso has emerged as the leading candidate to take over the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, at the same time, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has also been touted as a surprise candidate to replace Ancelotti at the Spanish capital club.

The German icon is working as the director of football operations for the Red Bull Group after leaving Liverpool.

Klopp open to Real Madrid job

However, recent reports suggested that Klopp would consider leaving his current position for two jobs – Real Madrid or the Brazil national team.

Building on that, SPORT now claims that the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager would be open to negotiating with Real Madrid.

Klopp is now ready to return to what he loves: coaching. But he would only do so under one condition – full control over the sporting project and a realistic shot at winning everything.

Real Madrid like Klopp

Part of the Real Madrid board view Klopp as the ideal figure to steady the ship after Ancelotti. While Alonso was initially the favourite, recent turmoil has led club president Florentino Perez to question whether this is the right moment to entrust the team to a young coach.

Klopp has always been a winning manager, and Real Madrid previously considered hiring him before he signed with Liverpool. Perez has spoken to the Reds’ legend in the past, but timing was never right.

Now, within the club, there is growing belief that Klopp would bring a perfect mix of tactical acumen, discipline, and charisma – precisely the kind of presence needed to counter Hansi Flick’s growing influence at Barcelona.
