Liverpool Admire Osimhen but Remain Cautious Amid Transfer Flurry

Interest Endures as Osimhen Eyes Premier League

Liverpool’s long-standing admiration for Victor Osimhen has again surfaced, but for now, the Nigerian forward remains at arm’s length. As reported by TBR Football, the Galatasaray striker “would like to move to England” and “is not going to wait all summer with the hope of a switch to Liverpool, Manchester United or another Premier League club.” That in itself signals a rare opportunity, but one the club seem reluctant to take.

Osimhen, 26, has re-established himself as a prolific No9 following a highly successful loan spell at Galatasaray. With 37 goals in 41 appearances, the Nigerian international fired the Turkish giants to a domestic double. Despite that, Napoli, his parent club, are keen to cash in now rather than risk a depreciation in his value.

Finances and Fit Remain Stumbling Blocks

Galatasaray are prepared to pay £55 million to make the move permanent, a substantial but arguably fair fee given the player’s return. His wage demands have also reportedly dropped from £400,000 to £200,000 per week, with the report noting, “those sums represent decent value in today’s market.”

Yet, despite reports that Osimhen’s representatives “have been in touch with both Liverpool AND Manchester United,” there has been no formal approach from either club. That caution, whether tactical or financial, is notable when one considers Liverpool’s significant outlay already this summer.

No Rush From Anfield Despite Talks

Liverpool have already committed close to £200 million on incoming transfers, including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Arne Slot’s first window at the helm has been assertive, but so far it hasn’t extended to replacing a pure centre-forward. With Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo already in the squad, perhaps the feeling internally is that Osimhen would be an expensive addition for a role already covered.

TBR Football adds: “There is interest in England… but they have not stepped up with a firm offer to this point. The two Premier League giants have been spoken to again in recent days, but as yet, no bid has arrived or is expected to.”

Waiting Game Could Benefit Others

If Liverpool do not act soon, Galatasaray may win the race unopposed. The Turkish club’s ambition is clear, and they are ready to offer Osimhen both the platform and stability he is seeking. Unless a Premier League club is prepared to act decisively, the opportunity to sign a “world-class” striker, as Il Mattino described him, may pass.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

This report is going to thrill plenty of Liverpool fans, and rightly so. Victor Osimhen is the type of centre-forward supporters have been dreaming of, Goals, power, and pace, he ticks every box.

The part that jumps out most? He wants to join Liverpool. That kind of intent matters. Supporters crave players who see Anfield as a destination, not a stepping stone. Osimhen clearly does. To hear that his wage demands have dropped and he is still open to a move is an encouraging signal.

Yes, £55 million is no small amount, but in the current market, for a 26-year-old proven goalscorer with Champions League experience and international pedigree, it represents real value. When you consider Liverpool have already spent £200 million this summer, what’s one more decisive move for someone who could score 25-plus a season?

It is understandable that the club want to be cautious, but hesitation could let Galatasaray tie him down permanently. If Liverpool genuinely believe in Osimhen’s quality and they clearly have admired him for years, now is the time to act.
