Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona is shrouded in uncertainty as the Dutch midfielder approaches the final year of his contract. If no extension is agreed upon this summer, the 26-year-old could be on the move.
According to a report from SPORT in October, several top clubs—including Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain—are closely monitoring de Jong’s situation.
While the midfielder has publicly expressed his desire to remain with the Catalan side, PSG’s history of poaching talent from Barcelona positions them as a plausible destination.
Barcelona appears ready to part ways with Frenkie de Jong as his contract approaches its expiration. Mundo Deportivo reported that the club has decided not to prioritize extending the Dutch midfielder’s deal, citing an inability to meet his salary demands.
Reports suggest Barcelona is now preparing for de Jong’s departure when his contract runs out. Journalist Miguel Rico has added that doubts surrounding de Jong’s performances on the pitch have further contributed to the club’s stance, signaling a potential end to his time at Camp Nou.

Diario AS reports that Barcelona have proposed a new contract to Frenkie de Jong, which includes a significant wage reduction as part of the club’s ongoing efforts to ease their financial struggles.
TEAMtalk recently revealed that Liverpool are seriously considering a move for Frenkie de Jong, though the midfielder would need to lower his wage demands for the deal to take shape. De Jong, whose contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, has yet to make progress on a potential renewal, leaving his future at the club uncertain.
If the deadlock persists in the coming weeks, Barcelona are reportedly open to selling the Dutchman this summer. The Catalan giants are said to value him at around €35 million, aiming to both generate funds and ease their wage bill.
