According to a report from L’Équipe, Lille OSC are close to securing the signing of Cameroonian prospect Angel Yondjo (18) from EF Brasseries Du Cameroun.
The teenager’s formative club will receive around €2m for a player who is considered to be one of the best of his generation, with Yondjo expected to complete his medical tomorrow before signing a contract that will keep him with Les Dogues until 2030.
Lille have reportedly spent the past year keeping track of a forward who is already a youth international with Cameroon, having represented the U23s. The French side have fended off interest from multiple clubs across Europe, with Stade Rennais, Olympique Lyonnais, AC Milan, Chelsea, and Manchester City all interested.
However, Lille have perhaps the added benefit of having previously bought Carlos Baleba (21) from Brasseries Du Cameroun, and shown that there is a clear pathway for success for young teenagers from the club’s academy.
