Paul Pogba (32) is edging closer to a move to AS Monaco. The Frenchman, as reported by Le Parisien, is set to sign a two-year deal with the Principality club. The move has already been praised by the manager of one of Monaco’s Ligue 1 rivals, Stade Brestois’ Eric Roy. The president of the LFP, Vincent Labrune, is also in favour of the prospective transfer.
Pogba is expected in Monaco this week, perhaps as early as Tuesday, to put the final touches on his move, including undergoing his medical. The 2018 World Cup winner has never played first-team football in France. He left Le Havre AC at an early age to join Manchester United.
However, firstly through injury and then due to a doping ban, he has missed a considerable amount of football in recent years. Since the start of the 2022/23 season, he has played just over 200 minutes of first-team football.
But there is great anticipation regarding Pogba’s return. “Ligue 1 will benefit not only from his talent and his charisma, but also from his international standing. That has been at the heart of our project for several seasons, and there is no doubt that the arrival of a world champion of his calibre will contribute to that greatly,” Labrune told L’Équipe.
