Birmingham City winger Keshi Anderson's contract is set to expire this summer and Leyton Orient should pay close attention to the situation.

Anderson signed a one-year deal with the Blues last summer, with an option to extend until 2025, and it has not been confirmed whether he will be staying at St. Andrew's.

If he were to become a free agent, there would surely be plenty of interest from League One clubs - one of which should be Richie Wellens' Orient.

Leyton Orient's attacking options

Leyton Orient have four attacking players under contract for the 2024-25 season: Dan Agyei, Joe Pigott, Ollie O'Neill and Jordan Graham.

Dan Agyei will likely head into the new campaign as Wellens' first-choice striker. The 26-year-old scored five goals in 17 League One games in an injury-riddled debut season with the O's.

Meanwhile, Wellens recently revealed that backup striker Joe Pigott will be allowed to leave in the upcoming transfer window.

Ollie O'Neill only joined the O's in January from Premier League side Fulham, but he has already proved to be one of the club's top players, providing five goals and three assists in 17 league games from the left wing position.

Jordan Graham, like Agyei, missed most of the season through injury and will be looking to have a much greater impact on the team next season.

Not to mention, Orient are in contract discussions with 2023-24 top goalscorer Ruel Sotiriou and Theo Archibald, but there are no guarantees that they won't go elsewhere.

And, even with those two resigning, the O's would still be short of options in the forward areas. This is why they should be active in the transfer market, with players such as Anderson potentially attainable.

Leyton Orient should offer Keshi Anderson a contract

Leyton Orient may have exceeded expectations with their 11th place finish in League One last season, but they fell away towards the end of the campaign in large part due to a lack of squad depth.

So, it is now Director of Football Martin Ling's job to equip Wellens with a group capable of finishing higher up the table next time around.

One player that would certainly help the club to achieve that is Birmingham's Anderson, who previously worked with the O's manager at Swindon Town.

The pacey wide man registered six goals and five assists in 20 League Two games as the Robins were crowned champions.

Anderson chose not to stay with Swindon, however, and instead signed for League One side Blackpool, who he also helped to achieve promotion.

But after failing to contribute much to the Tangerines' Championship campaign in 2022-23, the former Crystal Palace youngster left to join Birmingham last summer.

And the 28-year-old struggled once again, failing to score a single goal for the Blues as they were relegated from the division.

It would seem that Anderson is not cut out for the Championship, but he has proved to be impactful in League One.

With an existing relationship with Wellens, and a knack for winning promotion, the O's would be wise to make Anderson a contract offer in the coming weeks if he's not part of the plans at St Andrew's.
