Leverkusen step up interest in Quansah | OneFootball

Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool's negotiations over the touted £116 million transfer of Florian Wirtz could pave the way for Reds defender Jarell Quansah to move in the other direction.

According to reports, the two clubs have maintained communication regarding Quansah, although Liverpool are not actively seeking to offload the centre-back.

The 22-year-old experienced limited first-team action last season, and a transfer might appeal to the defender, who has been called up to senior England squads.

Were Quansah to move on, Liverpool may firm up their interest in Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, although any transfer will hinge on  the Eagles' valuation of the defender.

Last year, Palace declined four bids from Newcastle, with the final offer reaching £65 million. However, Guehi has only 12 months remaining on his contract, meaning he could leave on a free transfer next summer.

If a deal for Guehi cannot be reached during this transfer window, Liverpool would be keen to sign the centre-back on a free next summer.
