Leverkusen keen to include Liverpool youngsters in Wirtz deal | OneFootball

Bayer Leverkusen are keen on the idea of including Harvey Elliott or Jarell Quansah as part of the deal that takes Florian Wirtz to Liverpool.

Wirtz has informed Leverkusen of his desire to join Liverpool with talks ongoing over a a transfer. Liverpool have submitted a club-record offer worth €130m (£109m) including add-ons for the Germany international.

Leverkusen value Wirtz at €150m (£126m), a fee that would represent a British transfer record. However, the German side are open to including two Liverpool players as part of a potential part-exchange package.

Sky Germany are reporting that Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are both players of interest to the Bundesliga outfit and could be available for sale this summer.

The duo started just six Premier League games combined under Arne Slot last season, with each of Elliott’s starts coming after the league title was secured. Elliott hinted that he could look to leave Liverpool this summer amid concerns of his development stalling.

Speaking last month, the 22-year-old said: “I think I’ve [shown what I can do] this season. It’s been hard with how much I’ve played. I’ve tried as hard as I could and whatever happens, happens. It’s football at the end of the day and in my opinion, I just need to do what’s best for my career.”

Quansah has made 58 appearances for Liverpool since progressing from the club’s academy. The England u-21 international is another who has been linked with an exit in search of regular first-team football. Newcastle United are among the sides credited with an interest in the defender.
