Bayer Leverkusen and Crystal Palace have added Manchester City centre-back Manuel Akanji to their shortlist of transfer options.

Leverkusen are considering replacements for Piero Hincapie, who is keen to leave the German side and subject of interest from Arsenal. The North London side are negotiating a deal worth in the region of €60m.

Akanji is an option to replace Hincapie, having been told he is free to leave Manchester City this summer. He was left out of the Manchester City squad for Saturday’s defeat to Tottenham as speculation continues around his future.

Galatasaray have agreed a £15m deal to sign the Switzerland international, but the player is yet to give his approval to the move.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Leverkusen are looking to capitalise. Akanji has previous experience of German football, having made 158 appearances across a five-year spell a Borussia Dortmund.

The 30-year-old is also reportedly on the radar of Crystal Palace. The Eagles are expected to lose Marc Guehi before Monday’s transfer deadline with Liverpool pushing to conclude a deal. Akanji is seen as an experienced Premier League proven replacement for the England international.
