The factors that go into making and sustaining a football team are very varied and complex. So much so that extracting any tangible financial numbers for wins or general progress are inexact. But, with Leicester City so undoubtedly and inexplicably bad, let's give it a go anyway. Today we are using some vast and probably exorbitant figures supposedly directly from the Foxes' accounts. It's player wages to be precise.
Usually we leave these private amounts alone. Yet, due to the unacceptable performance for the entirety of the season - we think it is only fair to highlight the disparity between pay and displays on Filbert Way! Excuse my silly metaphor. I'll state it more plainly for our much-appreciated readership: the City squad are massively overpaid when considering the quality they exhibit.
Obviously being relegated is the main concern on the Blue Army fan base's collective minds at present. Losing their best players such as Bilal El Khannouss along with Mads Hermansen is an impending worry for sure. The loss of revenue (£100m roughly) for being demoted to the Championship will also impact.
In fact, the King Power ownership, who are also reportedly struggling for funds, have technically paid £16,419,000 for each of their four Premier League victories in 2024/25. That is sixteen million four hundred nineteen thousand a win. LCFC will spend £65,676,000 on the current wage bill. Eye-watering!
Not to mention another calculation I've cooked up (I hope my maths checks out!). LCFC are said to be shelling out a ridiculous £2.6m on average for each of their 25 EPL goals scored during this campaign in wages!
Wow. Talk about underperforming. I can't actually believe we've netted that many in the league. We all know the club needs a reset. These sums are the latest King Power indictment.
