Leicester City legend Claudio Ranieri is in talks over returning to his former club, despite only just retiring from management. It's great to see him back.

Claudio Ranieri established himself among the all-time Premier League greats. He needs no introduction to Leicester City fans, as the manager who led them to victory, against all odds, in the Premier League.

When little old Leicester won the Premier League title in the 2015-16 season, Claudio Ranieri won the Premier League Manager of the Season award, obviously. However, it was the time period afterwards which established him as a Leicester legend.

Ranieri stuck with the Foxes, despite the disastrous year which followed the title win. The following season was not great domestically, but Leicester surprised everyone in the UEFA Champions League.

Leicester's decision to dismiss Claudio Ranieri during his second season was not without controversy, with many former players coming out and calling the decision wrong.

Claudio Ranieri announced his retirement from management last season. However, the 73 year old is not done yet.

According to a report from The Athletic, Claudio Ranieri is currently in talks to come out of retirement and return to his former club Roma. It's believed he could take charge on a caretaker basis.

Alongside Leicester City, Roma is a club which Ranieri holds close to his heart. He has already managed in the Italian capital on two separate occasions, after starting his playing career there.

Claudio Ranieri never won an honour at Roma, so he might see his potential third stint as a chance to resolve unfinished business. He would certainly be welcomed with open arms at the historic Italian club.

From a Leicester perspective, some fans might argue that he should be in the Leicester race too. After all, new manager Steve Cooper is not the most popular figure, only picking up two Premier League wins with the Foxes so far.

Either way, it is exceptional to see Claudio Ranieri in the running at a top club, despite ageing at 73 years old. Given his sheer love for football and obvious hard working personality, fans should have always taken his retirement announcement with a pinch of salt.

We can only hope that Ranieri goes out with a bang. His legacy within the sport is well known and widely documented, but nevertheless, he deserves to go out with fireworks.
