The Foxes could be set to lose their star goalkeeper this summer.
Leicester City are preparing to field an approach from West Ham United for the services of star goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.
Marti Cifuentes has spent the last week getting his feet under the table as Leicester City's new boss.
Now the Spaniard is tasked with navigating his side through the remainder of the summer transfer window, as he looks to present a squad that can potentially defy a points deduction, and make an instant return to the Premier League next season.
The Foxes are one of just a few Championship clubs yet to make a signing this summer, and it now looks as though they are preparing to wave goodbye to another one of their star players.
Revealling via his X account on Monday morning, talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook has claimed that Leicester are bracing for a West Ham United bid for Hermansen.
The Foxes are currently in talks with veteran free agent goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, and that could well be a clear indication that they are expecting their Danish youth international to depart the King Power Stadium this summer.
Hermansen made 27 Premier League appearances for the club last season, and despite Leicester's 18th-placed finish and subsequent relegation to the Championship, the 25-year-old evidently did enough in his performances, at least to the Hammers, that he's worthy of remaining in the top-flight.
He was signed by Leicester in the summer of 2023 from Danish Superligaen side Brondby, and he would play a vital role in helping the club win the Championship in his debut 23/24 campaign, making 44 second tier appearances that year.
Hermansen is contracted with the club until the summer of 2028, a contract that according to Capology's estimates is earning him £10k-a-week.
Leicester City are having to be very careful with their finances this summer, given the threat of a points deduction hanging over them after being charged by the Premier League for an alleged breach of Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules relating to the 23/24 season.
As such, the funds generated from a potential big-money sale of Hermansen could provide a major help to the club's financial position, and for the player himself, another crack at Premier League football would surely be incredibly tough to turn down.
However, whilst Hermansen is obviously a talented player, and would undoubtedly be one of the best goalkeepers in the second tier next season should he remain with the club, Foxes fans should feel confident that the club has an in-house replacement for him who is ready to take on a starting role: Jakub Stolarczyk.
The 24-year-old is a product of the club's academy system, and after spending time out on loan with Dunfermline, Fleetwood and Hartlepool United over the last few years, the Pole has started to see some first-team opportunites come his way at the King Power in recent times.
Indeed, he made 10 Premier League appearances for the club last season, and did not disgrace himself by any means whatsoever, and he also made nine appearances in all competitions during the 23/24 campaign.
Therefore, he now looks ready to be challenged with a starting role at the club, and given the aforementioned financial situation the club are in, having a ready-made replacement for Hermansen could prove to be vitally important.
