The German has been heavily linked with the vacancy at the King Power Stadium

Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday are two clubs which have generated plenty of discourse heading into the new Championship season, with plenty of it relating to Danny Rohl.
The German has impressed many with his work at Hillsborough, guiding the Owls to a miraculous final-day escape from relegation to League One in May 2024 before progressing the South Yorkshire club to a 12th-place finish last season.
However, there have been several instances of discontent and financial uncertainty at Hillsborough in the past weeks and months, with six players handing in their notices to leave the club after not receiving their wages for the months of May and June, whilst it has also been reported that Rohl has informed the squad that he will be departing amid a stand-off with controversial owner, Dejphon Chansiri.
Such goings-on were documented in a report by the Daily Mail, which also stated that the Foxes are looking to take advantage of the situation in a bid to appoint the 36-year-old, and that they have already held talks with the South Yorkshire outfit over a compensation package following the recent departure of Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
There have been several other high-profile names linked with the job in the East Midlands. However, FLW's resident Leicester fan pundit, Louchlainn Martin, believes that this would be the perfect appointment in so many ways.
Leicester are far from stable themselves at present, with the potential appointment of Rohl representing a fifth permanent boss since April 2023, as well as continued talk over a potential points deduction at the start of the upcoming season after allegedly breaching PSR regulations.
However, Martin believes that moving for the former Southampton assistant over other names would unite the support-base at the King Power Stadium after a dismal relegation season in the Premier League.
"To be honest with you, I cannot tell you how excited I am about the prospect of this managerial appointment taking place," our fan pundit began.
"I actually think he is the perfect man, out of the names mentioned so far, to take over at Leicester," he explained. "The reason for that is, because I actually think it's the closest the club is going to get to appointing somebody who is going to please all the fans.
"We have previously been linked with Sean Dyche, and that has caused many to be concerned about him being a 'dinosaur', the type of football he would bring. Very direct, not the best at utilising and bringing youth products through with the exciting talent we've got.
"Obviously, we were linked with Russell Martin, who a lot of people got aggy about due to the other style of play, which is more 'tippy-tappy' football, as it's called, among our fanbase," Martin explained.
"But, Danny Rohl is someone who likes his teams to play exciting football whilst being adaptable and willing to change when needed," he added. "A high-pressing, high-intensity team. His players play for the shirt, and that's what we need right now.
"It's another young appointment, forward-thinking. I think he'd be the perfect man to come in. There is no other realistic appointment I'd prefer than Danny Rohl right now. I'm not going to sit here and say 'Pep Guardiola', but out of the realistic names out there, Danny Rohl is the man.
"From what I've heard, it's very, very close to being done as well, which is even more exciting," Martin concluded.
Given Rohl's exploits in the Steel City amid extremely challenging circumstances, this appointment, unsurprisingly, is set to go down well with masses of supporters in Leicester.
Just two seasons ago, the club took a similar approach with the appointment of current Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, and it paid dividends as the Foxes secured the Championship title, which is a feat they will hope to replicate in 2025/26.
Of course, the landscape of the club and squad is set to be extremely different to then in the coming weeks, especially following the departure of all-time great, Jamie Vardy, following the expiration of his contract.
Perhaps, the main reservation which some supporters are likely to have regarding Rohl is that Sheffield Wednesday possessed the second-worst home form in the division last term, accumulating just 26 of their 58 points on home turf, which must be improved on if Leicester are to mount an immediate promotion bid as expected.
