Legendary Polish goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski has advised Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski to bring his spell at the Catalan club to an end and consider a move to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Super Express (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Tomaszewski claimed that things are not as smooth as they appear for the veteran striker at Barça.

Lewandowski is now entering his fourth season at the club and is approaching his 37th birthday.

With over 100 goals in a Barcelona shirt, the Polish forward continues to show his class on the pitch and appears happy alongside his teammates.

Urging him to leave

Interestingly, Tomaszewski’s comments suggest that the reality may be different behind the scenes.

“Robert should finish his time at Barcelona right now and go to a ‘lighter’ club in Saudi Arabia, as the best players in the world have done, except Messi,” said Tomaszewski.

The former Poland international went even further by alleging that Lewandowski is being isolated at the club.

“Let’s face it, this is the end. Robert is not very popular in the team, and the best players in Barcelona don’t pass the ball to him.”

The remarks are surprising, especially given Lewandowski’s outward happiness and status at the club.

Still, Tomaszewski believes a move to Saudi Arabia would not only benefit Lewandowski but also Barcelona, who could use the wage relief to make new signings.

There is more

Tomaszewski continued, stressing that Lewandowski may be the only one resisting a transfer: “He stood firm. Of course, he has every right to stay. But he must realise that next season he will be a substitute.”

With the new season approaching and manager Hansi Flick evaluating all options, Tomaszewski’s comments add more noise around Lewandowski’s future.

Whether the Polish striker stays and fights for his place or opts for a lucrative exit remains to be seen.
