Nick (EBA) (Everton Blue Army): As the new Premier League season kicks off, Evertonians are more optimistic than theyve been in years. The Toffees travel to Elland Road to face a newly promoted Leeds United side eager to make a statement. With Jack Harrison and possibly Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the lineup, both players and fans are fired up for this opening clash.
David Moyes has been vocal about his frustrations with the transfer window over the summer. Despite significant squad reinforcements, recent injuries have exposed Evertons lack of depth. The signing of Jack Grealish is a major coup, but hes likely to start on the bench alongside fan favourite Beto, who has faced criticism from Moyes during pre-season. This could open the door for Barry to make his Premier League debuta thrilling opportunity in such a high-stakes match which will likely play to his advantage.
Another top signing in Dewsbury-Hall will most likely sit alongside Gueye. If KDH is able to get on the ball he could be a real handful for Leeds as he looked brilliant against a very strong Roma side. Ahead of him Alcaraz looks to try and make a statement with him being utilised mostly on the right during pre-season which hasn't worked. This facilitates a starting position on the right for McNeil who clearly is out of favour with the manager but as things stand, Moyes has little choice when it comes to the right, however clear advantages are there if McNeil can deliver some crosses in for Barry.
Evertons defence is a potential weak spot, with Mykolenko and Branthwaite sidelined. This may force Garner to shift to right-back and Aznou to slot in at left-back. With the lineup likely to evolve before Evertons first home game, Moyes will need to maximize a makeshift XI to secure a strong start.
Prediction: 0-1
