Leeds United have reached an agreement in principle to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff this summer, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The Elland Road club want quality and experience in the middle of the park as they prepare for life back in the English top-flight.
The 27-year-old Magpies star fits the bill having played 171 Premier League appearances over the past seven years.
The Whites tabled their third bid for Longstaff last month, which was worth £10 million plus £2m in add-ons and it appears they have succeeded in their bid to land him.
Leeds have reached personal terms with the Newcastle academy graduate, and he is now expected to join manager Daniel Farke and his team in the coming days.
They have already signed Lukas Nmecha and Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg, Jaka Bijol from Udinese, Gabriel Gudmundsson from Lille and Louis Enahoro-Marcus from Liverpool.
Leeds are already planning a medical for the Magpies midfielder, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
His addition will come in handy as they look to establish themselves as a mainstay in the Premier League following promotion from the Championship.
Longstaff has largely played as a central midfielder, but his defensive and attacking abilities make him capable of featuring in a box-to-box role.
He started 12 of the 32 games he featured in last term having fallen down the pecking order, but he remains a top midfielder capable of improving Leeds.
He is set to become their sixth summer signing, but more quality additions are expected as Farke looks to prove he has what it takes to impress as a Premier League manager.
