He made this estimate when speaking on Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, with Wyness predicting that the expansion will have a great effect financially.

Leeds recently unveiled their plans to expand their capacity to around 53,000 seats, which is a considerable increase.

They currently welcome less than 38,000 supporters to Elland Road on matchdays, so this project could be a real game-changer for the Whites.

Not only will the stadium have more seats, which would make Elland Road the seventh-biggest club arena in the country, but the design's key objective is to maintain and enhance the fans' atmosphere inside the ground.

The project also looks set to bring the ground in line with UEFA Category 4 status, reinforcing just how important this project is for the West Yorkshire side.

The club also aims to restrict the number of seats that won't be available whilst they're in the process of expanding, which is good news for those who are keen to see the Whites in action.

On the pitch, the team will be hoping to secure a Premier League return as quickly as possible to ensure they are ready for an expanded Elland Road.

At this point, they are on track to finish in the promotion mix, but it's only the early stages of the season and they will be keen to finish in the top two to avoid the possibility of play-off heartbreak again.

After an excellent victory against Norwich City in the play-off semis at the end of last term, they would have been hopeful of securing a win against Southampton in the final, but they fell to a 1-0 defeat in the end.

Their off-field plans are promising though.

Keith Wyness predicts up to £12m revenue increase with Elland Road expansion

Not only will the expansion improve the atmosphere at Elland Road, but it will also be financially beneficial.

On the latter, Wyness said: "It’s going to take time, and planning will need to be approved. I understand the council are very favourable towards this because it’s not a new stadium build.

"What it would mean revenue-wise, is an uplift of around £500-600k per game. Over the season, it’s about £10-12million. That makes a lot of difference.

"Part of the problem they’ll have is doing things as Liverpool did, building the new seats while games are going on. There will be a loss of revenue for that time while construction goes on.

"I’d love to see Leeds with a proper stadium, they are a big club with a big waiting list. They need to get this done, so we’ll see how long the process is going to take."

The Elland Road expansion should help Leeds in terms of profit and sustainability rules.

If they are to be competitive in the top tier, every penny matters and their ticket revenue will be important.

With this in mind, expanding Elland Road is a good idea and it could allow them to establish themselves as a Premier League club.

Ultimately, every Leeds fan will want the club to be established as a solid top-tier club considering their size.

And their Elland Road plans should take them one step closer to that, so it will be interesting to see whether the Whites can produce on the pitch too.
