There would be more than one winner if this Gabriel Sara deal came off for Leeds United
Leeds United have reportedly “done work” on a move for Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara.
That’s according to journalist Graeme Bailey, who revealed the progress to TBR Football as Leeds target a new number 10 for their Premier League adventure.
Bailey also claims the Whites have interest in Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia and Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, whilst Norwich City will be watching the Sara interest with a keen eye, given they would be involved in a deal.
Leeds have reportedly “done work” on move for Sara and have enquired about his availability, according to Bailey, but Buendia is emerging as the most likely target of the three.
The journalist told TBR: “Leeds want this No. 10 and they have options. They really like Hamer too and have done work on Sara – but at this point I think Buendia is the most likely.”
Sara signed for Galatasaray last summer from Norwich in a deal that reportedly netted the Canaries a £20m base fee.
The 25-year-old has scored two goals and provided 10 assists in 45 appearances for the Turkish club.
The rumoured trio suggests that Farke is keen to sign some competition for attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson, despite the USMNT international picking up 11 goal involvements in the Championship this term.
With the alluring offer of Premier League football, Farke will feel like he’s in dreamland choosing from Sara, Hamer and Buendia.
Leeds under Farke were reportedly keen to bring Sara in last summer, before he sealed his big-money move to Turkey with the offer of European football on the table, and the same is true of Hamer, who they also explored last year.
But Buendia is emerging as the favourite now, according to TBR, who Farke managed during his time with Norwich and has waxed lyrical about in the past.
The Canaries have been smart with their sales in recent years, including a sell-on clause in their sales of both Sara and Buendia, the latter worth 10 per cent.
However, any Buendia move at this stage is being talked up as a loan move rather than a permanent deal, meaning Norwich would not receive a cut.
With Sara only moving less than 12 months ago, benefitting from that clause this early would be a welcome surprise for the Canaries.
Farke has plenty of quality options on the table to strengthen the attacking-midfield role at Elland Road. It remains to be seen which he opts for, but Norwich are sure to be keeping a close eye on developments.
