If a recent report from The Athletic is believed to be true, Leeds United are weighing up a summer move for Noah Okafor. Club-to-club talks have yet to begin for the AC Milan forward, and the Serie A giants have already rejected an offer of around €15m from Bologna, setting their asking price at up to €20m, if Calciomercato is to be believed.

The 25-year-old Swiss international progressed through the academy ranks of FC Basel before securing a regular first-team status since 2018. RB Salzburg tied him down in January 2020 for €11m, and his impressive stint in Austria earned him a €15m transfer to AC Milan a couple of summers back.

Meanwhile, Okafor was supposed to join RB Leipzig on loan earlier this year, but left for Napoli instead after failing a medical examination due to a muscular injury. Although the Serie A side conquered the Scudetto, he was surplus to requirements in Naples, with just four league appearances under Antonio Conte.

Despite returning to Milan for the pre-season, the wideman could be on the move again amid growing interest from the West Yorkshire hotshots. The owners have backed Daniel Farke with several first-team signings, both in defence and midfield. But they only succeeded in snapping up two free agents in Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as attacking reinforcements to challenge and cover Joel Piroe up top.

Why Leeds United Should Tie Down The Attacker

The Whites had Nikola Krstovic on their radar, but a move for the Lecce centre-forward collapsed early in the window. Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, another rumoured target, might ply his trade at Atalanta, and Okafor, given his versatility across the frontline, could be a shrewd signing for the Premier League newcomers.

However, the Swiss star should be viewed as a like-for-like replacement for Manor Solomon. With 10 goals and 12 assists last season in 39 Championship fixtures, the Israeli winger enjoyed a blistering season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur. Predominantly a left-sided attacker who prefers to cut inside and use his stronger right foot as an inverted winger, Okafor would slot in perfectly in Farke’s 4-2-3-1 setup.

The German chief lost the race for Igor Paixao to Olympique Marseille, but should step up the chase for the Rossoneri player. His pace, dribbling, off-the-ball movements and link-up play would offer a creative spark in and around the attacking third. His swift runs might help Leeds make an impact from quick counter-attacks, and it remains to be seen whether the talks progress by the end of this month.
