That is according to Foot Mercato, who states that the French side wants to strengthen in the goalkeeping department this summer, and they are keeping an eye on Meslier.

Leeds will likely be in for a busy summer, as the play-off final defeat to Southampton has meant they are in for another season in the Championship.

There have been reports stating that players such as Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville will likely be sold by the club this summer, and Meslier could now be added to that list.

Meslier has been at Leeds United since the summer of 2020, and in those four years, it has been a turbulent time for the goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old has helped the club reach the Premier League, beat the drop in the top flight, and helped them to be competitive in the Championship.

However, there have been plenty of times that his place in the team has come under threat, but that hasn’t stopped interest from developing.

There were reports that Bayern Munich and Chelsea were interested in the goalkeeper last year, but that never materialised into anything.

However, it has now been claimed by Footmercato that Marseille are looking at Meslier as they weigh up signing a new goalkeeper.

The French side are about to bring Roberto De Zerbi in as their new manager, and they are keen to strengthen in all areas of the pitch.

This report states that the club has contacted Meslier, and they are ready to pounce and try and get him out of Elland Road, as his ability on the ball matches what De Zerbi wants from his first-choice goalkeeper.

Since joining the club from French side Lorient, Illan Meslier has been a regular in the Leeds United team.

But as previously stated, there have been times under different managers where he has lost his place in the starting XI after making costly mistakes.

That didn’t happen last season, as the Frenchman played in 43 of the club’s 46 league games, and he played in all three play-off games.

Meslier is still under contract at the club until the summer of 2026, so Leeds are under no pressure to sell, but it could be seen as the right time to let the goalkeeper leave.

Given that Illan Meslier is French, surely a move to a side like Marseille is going to interest the goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old has done relatively well in England, but if Marseille are genuine about their interest in the player, this may be a move that he finds too hard to turn down.

If that is the case, Leeds should be willing to let the player leave, as it seems the right time for the pair to part ways and allow Daniel Farke the chance to bring in a fresh goalkeeper.
