Lyon are ready to offer £8m for Lennon Miller, as they look to see off competition from Leeds United and Celtic for the midfielder.
Lyon are looking to see off competition from a host of clubs, including Leeds United and Celtic, as they prepare an £8m offer for Motherwell’s Lennon Miller.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest talents in Scottish football due to his performances at Fir Park since breaking through last year.
Not only has the teenager impressed with his quality on the ball, but he has also been given the captaincy in the past, which shows how he is respected at the club.
Therefore, it’s no surprise to see clubs from across Europe are tracking Miller, with reports previously claiming the likes of Leeds, Celtic, Man Utd, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are among those who have been monitoring the midfielder.
Yet, it appears as though Lyon will make a major concrete move to sign Miller, as Football Insider has revealed that they are ready to sanction an £8m move for the youngster when the summer window opens.
The update states the French giants have regularly scouted Miller this season, and they see him as one of the top talents for his age across Europe, and someone who they can make a big profit on in the years to come.
However, it’s said that Celtic are also ‘expected to firm up their interest’ in the Scotland U21 international, although it’s unclear whether they will match the sort of fee that Lyon could be prepared to pay.
Clearly, it’s going to be difficult for Leeds to win the race to sign Miller if they are still keen, which you would imagine they are.
As a club, they have done very well over the years at identifying young talent, and they’ve given these players a chance to perform, with Pascal Struijk, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto being some of those who arrived in their teens, albeit at different stages of their career.
So, that would help make Leeds an attractive option for potential signings, but Miller is someone who will want to take his next step at a high level.
That means winning promotion is key if they are to sign the youngster, and they will have to tempt him with a convincing project if they are to see off competition from clubs across Europe.
Ultimately, it seems like Miller will have a big call to make on his future this summer, and Motherwell are in line for a hefty windfall from their academy graduate, who is undoubtedly a fantastic talent.
