Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has moved to send some support the way of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.
This, of course, comes fresh off the pair locking horns on the international front.
Spain and Portugal went toe-to-toe in the finale of the Nations League on Sunday night, with Lamine and Ronaldo, as expected, having featured from the off.
When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of the result, courtesy of a penalty shootout triumph.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, the name of world football’s standout young player was therefore put to Ronaldo once more.
And the five-time Ballon d’Or winner made use of the opportunity to both praise Lamine, and call for his protection on the part of fans and the media alike:
“Lamine Yamal is just 17. Please, leave him alone. I have to ask you to let him be. He has to be calm.
“Lamine is going to win a lot of collective and individual titles. He’s a phenomenon. He will have a long career and he’s going to win a lot of Nations Leagues.”
