Leao offered to Barcelona in a surprise swap deal | OneFootball

AC Milan have proposed a swap deal with Barcelona, offering star forward Rafael Leao in exchange for defender Ronald Araujo (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

The Uruguayan’s future at Barca has been hanging in the balance despite signing a new deal at the start of the year.

While manager Hansi Flick views Araujo as a key player heading into next season, the Catalan giants could sanction his sale this summer for a higher offer.

Bayern Munich were touted as suitors, but their interest in Araujo has subsided after Jonathan Tah’s arrival on a free transfer.

Premier League giants Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the former La Masia graduate.

Leao has been high on Barca’s wishlist this summer in their search for a high-profile left winger.

The Portuguese star has been linked with an exit from the San Siro this summer, although Milan rate him as a key player. Bayern are also showing concrete interest in Leao.

Barca’s financial limitations have been a stumbling block in pursuing Leao, although the club shares an excellent relationship with his agent Jorge Mendes.

The La Liga giants are also looking at Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as potential targets.

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco reportedly held a meeting with Williams’ agent, and the player has also prioritised moving to the Catalan club.
