Juventus and Inter Milan are set to fall short in their quest to sign Mario Gila, as Lazio have no plans to deprive themselves of the 24-year-old.

The Background

The Biancocelesti signed the 24-year-old for just €6 million back in the summer of 2022, but Real Madrid retained a 50% sell-on fee on a future transfer. In recent months, the reigning European champions have reportedly been considering bringing back their former defender who has been on fine form this season.

Serie A Admirers

Moreover, Inter and Juventus have reportedly entered the fray as well, as both clubs are eager to reinforce their respective backlines which have been ravaged by injuries. The two Serie A giants set their sights on the Spaniard who has been one of the most consistent and reliable performers for Lazio this season.

But according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Biancocelesti have closed the doors on all suitors, insisting that Gila isn’t going anywhere. Marco Baroni has often reiterated his great esteem for the player whom he considers an automatic starter at the back.

Leaps & Bounds

The Barcelona native has made great strides under the guidance of the 61-year-old manager this season, coming a long way from the time he struggled to earn playing time upon joining Maurizio Sarri’s squad. The centre-back’s contract will expire in June 2027, so Lazio will be keen to push back the deadline to maintain a solid grip on his long-term future.
