Lazio Must Offload Hysaj Before Signing Hellas Verona Full-Back | OneFootball

Lazio are closing in on Hellas Verona left-back Juan Cabal but must first make room for his arrival by selling Elseid Hysaj.

The Colombian has been plying his trade at the Bentegodi Stadium since making the move from Atletico Nacional in 2022. Last season, he showcased significant improvement under the guidance of Marco Baroni who would like to have him at his disposal once more following his appointment as Lazio head coach last month.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via LazioNews24, the Biancocelesti have already reached an agreement with Verona over Cabal’s transfer following a meeting between Lazio President Claudio Lotito and his counterpart Maurizio Setti. The operation will cost the capital side €8 million in addition to €2 million in bonuses. The two clubs have already completed Tijjani Noslin’s move.

Lazio Trying to Sell Hysaj to Make Room for Cabal

However, the source claims the Aquile cannot finalize the transfer before offloading Hysaj who would have to make way for the young Colombian. The 30-year-old has been playing his football at Lazio since 2021 when he reunited with Maurizio Sarri having worked together at Empoli and Napoli in the past.

The Albanian’s contract will expire next summer, so Lazio would be willing to sell for just €2 million. Yet, they haven’t received any offers for the versatile fullback, leaving Cabal’s transfer on ice. The Biancocelesti could alternatively raise funds by offloading the likes of Mohamed Fares and André Anderson.
