Lazio join race for Arsenal 24yo after holding agent talks | OneFootball

Lazio are the latest club to make an enquiry for Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares in a meeting with his representatives, according to a report.

Earlier this week, a report from Sky Sports News revealed that Ajax were considering a move for Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares, who spent last season out on loan with Nottingham Forest.

But it seems Ajax aren’t the only club in the race, with Luca Bendoni of Di Marzio naming Serie A side Lazio as another contender.

Bendoni reports that Lazio have tested the waters for Tavares through a meeting with the player’s entourage, though the move isn’t currently a priority for them.

Even so, a move for Tavares is evidently a possibility, and there’s certainly interest on Lazio’s end.

Tavares joined Nottingham Forest on a loan deal with an option to buy last summer, with the club agreeing to pay a £1m loan fee for the deal, with a £12m option to buy included in the contract.

But eight-and-a-half months later, Forest confirmed that Tavares had reached the end of his loan spell at Forest, thanked him for his contribution and wished him well for the future.

Choosing not to activate their purchase clause, Forest returned the defender to Arsenal.

Tavares made 12 appearances for Forest over the course of the season, with eight in the Premier League and four in the FA Cup.

With Arsenal having various options at left-back, particularly with Jurrien Timber returning to fitness, Kieran Tierney also coming back from a loan, and links with Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, Tavares’ future probably lies away from the club.
