Lazio have reportedly set a new record by inserting a hefty release clause in the contract of their new signing Loum Tchaouna.

The Biancocelesti started their summer by announcing the capture of the young Frenchman alongside Hellas Verona forward Tijjani Noslin and Barcelona youngster Cristo Munoz. But as Calciomercato explains, it is Tchaouna’s deal that includes an interesting clause.

Tchaouna was born in Chad but has been representing the French national through various age groups, and currently features for Les Bleus’ U20 side. He has been considered among the most promising youngsters in France since his time at Stade Rennais.

The source reveals that Lazio have inserted a buyout clause worth €55 million. The report considers it a record fee in Claudio Lotito’s era at the club. The Italian capital side spent €8 million to acquire the attacker’s services from Salernitana, pouncing on the Granata’s relegation to Serie B.

The 20-year-old is left-footed so he often plays as an inverted winger on the right flank, but can interpret other positions in the final third. Last season, he contributed with four goals and as many assists in 33 Serie A appearances, but it was far from sufficient to avert Salernitana’s inevitable demotion.
